I feel lighter than I have in so much time
I've crossed the borderline of weightless
One deep breath out from the sky
I've reached a rarer height now that I can confirm
All our weight is just a burden offered to us by the world

And though I burn, how could I fall?
When I am lifted by every word you say to me
If anything could fall at all, it's the world
And it falls away from me

I do not have wings, love, I never will
Soaring over a world you are carryin'
If these heights should bring my fall
Let me be your own Icarian carrion
If the wind turns, if I hit a squall
Allow the ground to find its brutal way to me

If I should fall, on that day
I only pray, don't fall away from me

One of the things I love most about the Stormlight Archive’s main trio is that their vibes and attitudes are in almost total contrast.

Like, to look at them, one is a sweet-looking blonde guy with a huge smile, and his cute redheaded wife who’s always making jokes. And then, a few metres off to the side, is this six-foot-four gloomy-looking dude with a severe case of angry eyes.

But then you read the books, you find out that Adolin and Shallan would both 100% murder someone in a shady back alley, meanwhile Kaladin is probably helping save a child stuck in a tree whilst on the way to his nightly stew dinner and therapy session with his 30 best friends.

Hey Stormlight people! I’ve had this for a while but finally managed to recreate it digitally!

This is my unofficial script/language/alphabet (+ user manual because I made it far more complicated than was probably necessary but whatever) that I created for the singer/listener people, and I thought some of y’all might enjoy!

Couple of notes:

  • the rhythm symbols have no actual basis in anything, I just tried to make something that captures the feeling of the word. “Tension” is one of the more obvious ones but the others are vibe only so
  • Apologies on the handwriting, it’s not the greatest but oh well
  • If you have any questions on how to use or just anything in general I am willing to answer!
  • All credit goes to me please don’t claim this as your own (ik it’s whatever but this did take me like actually ~14 hours total so please be kind)

[ID: The five images go through an example of the script, then sounds, a list of rhythms and how they would be written, some rules for sounding out words using the script, and then more examples with instructions, using one of Navani's keteks ("Alight, winds approach" with the Rhythm of Winds), and one of the Musings of El ("Humans are a poem, a song" with no rhythm.
The script has a horizontal line through it, like the Vorin women's script, and has a perpendicular ending line like the Vorin script. Otherwise, it's quite round and asymmetrical, whereas women's script is sharp and symmetrical on each side of the horizontal line. It also reads right to left, whereas women's script reads left to right. Small lines, circles, and dots are added above the individual letters to indicate vowel sounds. There are rules for pronounciation based on whether the symbol is above or below the line, with the first letter being the largest, and the rest of the word in a smaller version alternating between above and below the horizontal line. There are no spaces.
The symbols for the rhythms are individually created, not by sound, and they sit at the beginning of each line. For example, Tension has a dot in the middle. Below it is a V shape. Above is an inverted V. End ID.]
